The National Weather Service in Miami issued a Flood Advisory for northern Broward County on Saturday, October 17, in effect from 3:10 PM until 4:15 PM EDT.

Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain from thunderstorms over the area, with 1 to 2 inches already fallen and an additional 1 to 2 inches expected. Minor flooding in low-lying and poor-drainage areas is ongoing or expected to begin shortly, with ponding of water in urban areas.

Locations that may experience flooding include Pompano Beach, Deerfield Beach, Lighthouse Point, Hillsboro Beach, Pompano Beach Airport, and North Pompano Beach.

The NWS advises drivers to turn around rather than drive through flooded roads, noting that most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
