The National Weather Service in Miami issued a Special Weather Statement for central Miami-Dade County on Sunday, November 1, in effect until 9:45 AM EST.

At 9:12 AM, meteorologists were tracking a strong thunderstorm 8 miles west of the intersection of Krome Avenue and Kendall Drive, or 9 miles northwest of The Redland, moving west at 15 mph, based on radar. The storm may bring wind gusts of 45 to 50 mph. Locations affected include Homestead General Airport, The Redland, The Hammocks, and Everglades National Park.

The Weather Service says gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Seek shelter in a safe building until the storm passes. Torrential rainfall is also occurring and may lead to localized flooding — do not drive through flooded roadways.
