The National Weather Service in Miami issued a Flood Advisory for southeastern Palm Beach County on Saturday, October 17, in effect until 4:45 PM EDT, as flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain from thunderstorms, with 2 to 3 inches already fallen and an additional 1 to 2 inches expected. Minor flooding in low-lying and poor-drainage areas is ongoing or expected, with ponding of water in urban areas.

Locations that may experience flooding include Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, Highland Beach, Ocean Ridge, Gulf Stream, Briny Breezes and Manalapan.

The NWS advises drivers to turn around rather than drive through flooded roads, noting that most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
