The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a Flash Flood Warning for northern Broward County, in effect until 2:15 AM EDT on Sunday, October 18.
At 11:13 PM, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2.5 and 4 inches of rain had already fallen, with rainfall rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour and an additional 1 to 3 inches possible. The Weather Service says flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly, including in Deerfield Beach, Lighthouse Point and Hillsboro Beach.
The NWS advises people to turn around and not drive through flooded roads, to be especially cautious at night when flooding is harder to see, and to avoid flooded roads.
