The National Weather Service in Miami issued a Flood Advisory for southern Broward County and northern Miami-Dade County on Saturday, October 17, in effect from 1:36 PM until 2:30 PM EDT.

Doppler radar indicated heavy rain from thunderstorms over the area, with 2 to 3 inches already fallen and up to 1 additional inch possible. Minor flooding in low-lying and poor-drainage areas is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Locations that may experience flooding include Hollywood, Hallandale, North Miami Beach, Aventura, West Park, Ojus, Pembroke Park, and Ives Estates.

The NWS advises drivers to turn around rather than drive through flooded roads, noting that most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
