The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a Flood Advisory for northern Broward County and southeastern Palm Beach County, in effect until 2:00 AM EDT on Sunday, October 18, for flooding caused by excessive rainfall.
At 10:54 PM, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain from thunderstorms, with between 1 and 2 inches of rain already fallen and minor flooding ongoing or expected to begin shortly. An additional 1 to 2 inches is expected. Locations that may experience flooding include Pompano Beach, Deerfield Beach, Lighthouse Point and Hillsboro Beach, with minor flooding in low-lying and poor-drainage areas and water over roadways.
The NWS advises drivers to turn around rather than drive through flooded roads, noting that most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
