The National Weather Service in Miami extended the High Surf Advisory for coastal Palm Beach County in an update issued at 12:36 AM on Friday, October 23. The advisory now runs until 8 AM Saturday, October 24 — six hours later than the 2 AM end time in the previous update — with large breaking waves of 6 to 8 feet expected in the surf zone.
The Weather Service says dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion are possible along the Palm Beach coast while the advisory is in effect. The coastal flood and rip current advisories for South Florida coasts remain in effect through Saturday evening, unchanged.
Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water because of the dangerous surf conditions. Swim near a lifeguard, and if caught in a rip current, relax and float rather than swimming against it.
