The National Weather Service in Miami extended the Rip Current Statement for coastal Palm Beach County in an update issued at 1:45 AM on Wednesday, October 28. A high risk of dangerous rip currents is now in effect through Thursday evening, October 29 — a day longer than on the Broward and Miami-Dade coasts, where the risk ends Wednesday evening.

The Weather Service says rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water along Palm Beach County's Atlantic beaches.

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float and do not swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
