The National Weather Service in Miami issued a Special Weather Statement at 3:17 PM on Monday, November 2, for a strong thunderstorm in southern Miami-Dade County, in effect until 3:45 PM. Meteorologists were tracking the storm near Homestead General Airport, moving north at 10 mph, and said it is capable of producing a funnel cloud and wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph.
Locations impacted include Homestead, Homestead Miami Speedway, Florida City, The Redland, Naranja, Leisure City and Princeton. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects, and funnel clouds can occasionally touch down and produce tornadoes or waterspouts. The NWS advises seeking shelter in a safe building until the storm passes and staying away from windows.
South Florida Malayalees (SFM) is also tracking a Flash Flood Warning for northeastern Palm Beach County and the Flood Watch covering all three counties through Monday evening.
