The National Weather Service in Miami issued a Rip Current Statement for coastal Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties at 2:41 PM on Wednesday, October 21. A high risk of dangerous rip currents is in effect through Friday evening, October 23.

The Weather Service says rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water, and the risk applies along South Florida's Atlantic beaches for the rest of the week.

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float and do not swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
