A $1 million endowment gift from the William H. Pitt Foundation will provide ongoing support for hands-on science education at the Cox Science Center & Aquarium in West Palm Beach, the Palm Beach Daily News reports.

The foundation, led by Palm Beach resident Pauline Pitt, is one of two donors making $1 million endowment commitments; the other is the Lunder Foundation, led by West Palm Beach resident Paula Lunder. The Pitt gift will support general science education programs and dissections in the center's planned Wet Lab. Thousands of students in grades 2–12 take part in the center's lab experiences each year, and participation is expected to double when the expansion completes in late 2027.

The Lunder gift supports the Museums for All program, which offers $3-per-person admission to families receiving EBT benefits — launched in 2021 to make exhibits more affordable.

Why it matters: For Palm Beach families, this means more affordable, hands-on STEM learning for kids — including the $3 admission option for EBT families — as the Dreher Park expansion grows. A good weekend destination to bookmark for children interested in science.
