The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a Flood Advisory for central Broward County, in effect until 3:30 AM EDT on Sunday, October 18, for flooding caused by excessive rainfall.
At 12:35 AM, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain from thunderstorms, with between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain already fallen and minor flooding ongoing or expected to begin shortly. An additional 1 to 3 inches is expected. Locations that may experience flooding include Pompano Beach, Deerfield Beach, Sea Ranch Lakes, Pompano Beach Airport and Terra Mar, with minor flooding in low-lying and poor-drainage areas and water over roadways.
The NWS advises drivers to turn around rather than drive through flooded roads, noting that most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
