Florida Virtual School has launched AP Career Kickstart Cybersecurity for the 2026–27 school year — a course equivalent to a one-semester college class, with more than 600 students already enrolled. A new entry-level course, IT Fundamentals, gives beginners an on-ramp.

The Applied Cybersecurity Program of Study sequence covers computer and network security, risk management, incident response, and penetration testing. Along the way, students can earn CompTIA Tech+ and CIW Web Security Associate credentials — and the CompTIA Tech+ sits in Florida's Gold Standard Career Pathways Articulation Agreement, guaranteeing college credit toward select associate degrees in fields like Computer Information Technology and Network Systems Technology at Florida State Colleges. October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
