Hallandale Beach homeowners planning hurricane protection for next season have a grant window open now. The Hallandale Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (HBCRA) is accepting fiscal 2026-27 applications for its Storm Shutter/Impact Glass Program, which pays up to $10,000 toward shutters or impact-resistant glass for owner-occupied homes in the CRA district.
The program is income-based — household income at or below 80% of the Broward County area median — and the money goes directly to the contractor, with the homeowner covering anything above the grant. Seniors 60 and older may qualify for a second round of up to $7,000 under tighter income limits, and applications for homes elsewhere in the city have reopened as well.
Why it matters: South Florida Malayalees (SFM) readers in Hallandale Beach should not wait for hurricane season — applications are by appointment only, first-come, and close June 30, 2027, or when funds run out. Start with the HBCRA residential programs page to check eligibility and book the appointment.
