Families tracking jewellery and bullion prices in India saw a sharp weekly drop. According to India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA) rates reported on November 1, 24-carat gold ended the week at ₹1,40,054 per 10 grams — down ₹1,576 from the previous week's ₹1,41,630 — with the week's low set in the October 30 evening session. Silver fell much harder, dropping ₹13,071 to ₹1,81,344 per kilogram.
The 22-carat rate used for most jewellery stood at ₹1,28,289 per 10 grams. IBJA publishes rates twice daily, and retail prices in Kerala shops add making charges and GST on top of these base rates.
Why it matters: many South Florida Malayalees (SFM) readers time gold purchases in India around family trips and weddings. A down week does not predict the next one — check the day's IBJA rate before buying, and compare the full retail quote, not just the headline rate.
