The National Weather Service in Miami kept a High Surf Advisory in effect for coastal Palm Beach County in an update issued at 2:41 PM on Wednesday, October 21. The advisory runs until 8 PM Friday, October 23, with large breaking waves of 5 to 7 feet expected in the surf zone — a lower range than the 5 to 9 feet in Tuesday's update.

The Weather Service says dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion are possible along the Palm Beach coast while the advisory is in effect.

Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water. Swim near a lifeguard, and if caught in a rip current, relax and float rather than swimming against it.
