The National Weather Service in Miami issued a Rip Current Statement for coastal Miami-Dade County at 3:35 AM on Saturday, October 31. A high risk of dangerous rip currents is in effect through Monday morning, November 2, ending at 7 AM.
The Weather Service says rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. The same coastline is also under a Coastal Flood Advisory, with moderate coastal flooding expected at high tide through Sunday evening, and beach conditions will remain dangerous through the weekend.
Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float and do not swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline; if unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
